Ukrainian primitive artist. Born in 1967 in Mykolaiv. Graduated from a children's art school. Dmytro studied at the M. Grekov Art School in Odessa (1988), but did not complete his studies.

At a certain stage of his career, he abandoned formal education, openly calling himself a "self-taught artist.". He diserted the dominant style that was Soviet realism and instead began working in gouache, employing bright and vivd colours and experimenting with new forms - surrealism and abstraction.

The artist's work is sometimes now classified as naive art, however he describes it as symbolist. Moldovanov's style captures the horrors of war in a striking and highly original way.
